A neighbourhood chronicle
Edinburgh’s historic Port of Leith has emerged as one of the most industrious, creative and distinctive neighbourhoods in the world. An area that was once Scotland’s gateway to the world has slowly rebuilt itself as a remarkable furnace of opportunity and culture, home to a community that wears its heritage and reputation with pride.
The Leith Annual serves to chronicle the wealth of enterprise and endeavour that exists in this place. Lovingly produced by the writers, designers, illustrators and photographers who live and work here, this is the story of Leith in 2024. told by the people who live and work in its streets.

The Leith Annual was inspired the the original Leith Handbooks which were published by the Leith Docks Commission in the early to mid-20th century.
The Annual documents Leith in 2024, illustrating the area sector by sector, with chapters on Arts & Creatives, the Environment, Brewing & Distilling, The Port, Hospitality, The Built Environment, Transport & Infrastructure, Charity & Community and Sport.
The Annual is currently available in person from The Lind & Lime Distillery on Coburg Street, and The Port of Leith Distillery next to Ocean Terminal. It will soon be available at the National Galleries for Scotland shops, and many more retailers across Leith and Edinburgh.
In 42 articles over 125 pages, the Annual covers 171 individual businesses, organisations and charities that operate in the area.
